On September 11, Seoul Energy Dream Center announced that it operated onsite training as part of the ¡®Capacity Building Training Program for Citizen Education and Waste Management of Phnom Penh, Cambodia,¡¯ hosted by the Seoul Urban Solutions Agency (SUSA).
Fifteen managers and practitioners from Phnom Penh¡¯s climate, environment, and green infrastructure departments attended the training, gaining hands-on experience and learning about Korea¡¯s environmental education and energy policies.
Located in ¡®Peace Park¡¯ in Mapo-gu, Seoul, the Dream Center is Korea¡¯s first energy self-reliant eco-friendly public building and a specialized environmental education institution in Seoul offering various educational and experiential programs on environment, energy, and climate change.
The event began with a lecture by Director Lee Yong-seong on the "Direction and Strategy for Citizen Education in the Public Sector," covering topics including Korea¡¯s environmental education system, Seoul's environmental education operation cases, Seoul as an environmental learning city, and major programs of the Seoul Energy Dream Center and Seoul Environmental Education Center.
Participants toured the center¡¯s exhibition hall to experience Seoul¡¯s energy policies, the operation of environmental education facilities, and elements of zero-energy buildings (ZEB).
Director Lee noted that through cooperation with SUSA, hosting overseas officials at the Seoul Energy Dream Center to understand Korea¡¯s and Seoul¡¯s environmental education and energy policies was significant in itself.
He added that the Dream Center will continue to promote Korea¡¯s and Seoul¡¯s environmental education and energy policies to foreign visitors.
Seoul Urban Solutions Agency (SUSA), an institution under Seoul City, operates a three-year KOICA Global Training Program (2024–2026). It conducts international exchange projects such as inviting overseas city officials for training and dispatching experts to sustain cooperative relationships with various countries.
